Growing Up by the Ocean
I was born and raised in the beautiful seaside town of Monterey, California, where my love for the ocean and fishing began at an early age. From the age of 5, I was out sport fishing with my dad and grandfather, soaking in their knowledge and sharing in their passion for the sea. By the time I was 13, I had taken my first steps into the commercial fishing world, working alongside my family in Alaska. These experiences laid the foundation for what would become my lifelong career.
Joining the Coast Guard
At 17, I took my commitment to the water to the next level by joining the U.S. Coast Guard. After graduating boot camp in Cape May, New Jersey, I was stationed in Brookings, Oregon. Shortly after, I attended Boatswain’s Mate A-School, where I learned how to drive boats for a living and perform the duties of one of the most critical roles in the Coast Guard. As a Boatswain’s Mate—a position representing the highest level of leadership for enlisted members—I honed my skills, both as a leader and as a mariner.
Life at Sea in the Coast Guard
At 19, I was stationed in Bellingham, Washington, where I commanded a $2,000,000 vessel, saving lives and earning accolades. My time in the Coast Guard shaped my character, instilling in me the values of leadership, responsibility, and perseverance—traits I carry with me to this day.
From Fishing with Family to Founding M.I.F Seafood
After completing my Coast Guard service, I returned to my roots, combining the leadership skills I had developed with my lifelong experience in fishing. I founded M.I.F Seafood, a business that allowed me to turn my passion into a profession. Growing up fishing in Alaska alongside my father and grandfather, I had always dreamed of sharing our wild-caught seafood with the public. M.I.F Seafood became the vessel for making that dream a reality.
A Team Effort with Family
On a personal note, I met my wife after high school, even though we walked the same halls for years without crossing paths. We got married in 2022, and shortly after, we launched M.I.F Seafood together—a journey that tested and strengthened our marriage in countless ways. Through thick and thin, she’s been my greatest supporter, and together we’ve built M.I.F Seafood into what it is today.
